SeAH Besteel Kunsan recently restarted operations at meltshop EAF No 2 (formerly Kia Steel) following modification by Danieli. The modernization project included addition of new HiReg® Plus electrode control system and a new process automation system.
The EAF upgrade, through stabilization of such operating parameters as energy consumption and tap-to-tap time led to improved operation consistency. As a result, output is 5% higher with 2% less power consumption and consequent savings in production costs.
The SeAH Besteel meltshop features two EAFs, both of which have been upgraded in previous years with installation of Danieli Module technology. Danieli also supplied a 3-strand high-speed caster. The Kunsan plant produces a wide range of quality and special steel grades.
