Danieli to Supply New MIDA Plant for Kurum International

Danieli said it will be the first greenfield MIDA installation in Europe. The scope of supply includes a meltshop with a 75-metric-ton electric arc furnace featuring an ECS continuous scrap-charging system, a 77-metric-ton ladle furnace, a material handling system and a fume treatment plant. It can produce an estimated 700,000 metric tons of deformed bars and compact coils annually.

The continuous casting machine with octagonal mold will allow for endless casting at speeds over 7 m per minute. The rolling mill will have housingless stands and a finishing block to produce straight bars from 10 to 32 mm and spooled coils from 8 to 25 mm and weights up to 5 metric tons, the companies said.

The MIDA-QLP lines feature Danieli’s patented OctoCaster.

The companies said start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.
