10/05/2007 - Celsa Huta Ostrowiec contracts Danieli to supply a new 750,000-tonne/year super-flexible SBQ bar and section mill that will be capable of producing a wide range of finished product types and sizes through the mill’s two production outlets.
Celsa Huta Ostrowiec, Poland has contracted Danieli for the supply of a new 750,000-tonne/year super-flexible SBQ bar and section mill to be installed at its Huta Ostrowiec works.
The 225-tonne/hour multi-line mill, characterized by an extremely wide range of finished product types and sizes, will be structured on two production outlets. Line 1 will be used for smaller-size round bars and light sections, and Line 2 will be used for SBQ bars and larger size profiles. Danieli will also supply off-line cold finishing facilities for quality round bars.
The new rolling mill configuration will include a 17-stand roughing mill plus an intermediate/pre-finishing mill made up of H, V and convertible H/V roll stands (common to both production outlets and operating on single or double strand, depending on product size).
The Line 1 Production outlet, which will be used for smaller sizes, will comprise two parallel, single-strand twist-free finishing mills, each composed of eight H-V stands, plus associated 90-meter-long cooling beds and on-line product straightening/cutting/stacking/bundling facilities.
The Line 2 Production outlet, which will be used for larger sizes and beams, will comprise a 3-stand HRSM high-reduction sizing mill, 120-meter-long cooling bed, and on-line straightening / cut-to-length facilities. This line will also include three single-head magnetic stackers, plus weighing, strapping and collecting services.
The product range of the new plant will include 8- to 100-mm diameter plain and SBQ bars, 20- to 250-mm flats, 20- to 150-mm angles, 10- to 50-mm squares, 100- to 160-mm H-Beams, and up to 300-mm I-Beams and channels. Steel grades will include low/med carbon steel for construction purposes, and high-carbon and bearing steel for the automotive industry.
Danieli Centro Maskin will supply the inspection and finishing line for 30- to 120-mm diameter SBQ bars. The inspection and finishing line will include a straightening machine, chamfering station and a NDT system for bar size surface and internal defects control, plus conditioning facilities and a hexagonal bundling unit.
Danieli Automation will supply all electricals and an advanced automation system for the whole plant.
Plant startup is scheduled for spring 2009.
