According to Danieli, the project entails installation of a new hydraulic oscillator on the plant’s No. 8 caster, which Danieli built and installed in 2017. Danieli said the oscillator has a customized design that will not compromise oscillation performance and capabilities. 

“This new functionality will improve the mold lubrication with a consequent reduced risk of sticking, resulting in better slab surface quality with reduced oscillation marks,” Danieli said. 

Danieli said the project will require minimal mechanical modifications to the double-strand unit. The project is set for completion in 2024.
