Danieli to Upgrade Celsa Rolling Mills in Spain and Poland

Compañia Espagñola de Laminación, SL (Celsa) has contracted Danieli Morgårdshammar to upgrade two of its rolling mills in Spain and Poland.

At Celsa Barcelona, Danieli will add two SHS housingless stands to the bar and rod mill’s 4-stand Danieli compact rougher, which has been in operation since 2000. Danieli will also add various auxiliary equipment. The upgrade will enable the facility to roll larger-size billets, increasing the rolled stock weight up to 3 tonnes. Startup is scheduled for the first quarter of 2006.

At Celsa Huta Ostrowiec, Danieli will upgrade a twin-strand continuous bar and section mill to expand the current product range to include smaller sizes. On each strand, two vertical stands will be replaced with a combined H/V P-624-series housingless stands. The upgrade will enable the facility to roll down to 3-strand slit 8-mm diameter rebar. The scope of supply also includes quick roll changing facilities, including facilities for the existing stands, as well as guides, operationals and auxiliaries. New equipment installation will start in November of 2005.
