Ebner to Provide Strip Hardening Technology for Metallurgica Pessina

SpA Metallurgica Luigi Pessina Acciai has contracted Ebner to provide a new 660 kg/hour hardening and tempering line.
The new line will enable Metallurgica Pessina to austemper or martemper 380 mm wide (maximum), 0.2 to 3.0 mm thick carbon steel strip. The line will be capable of a monthly throughput of 200 tonnes.
Ebner’s scope of supply includes the austenitizing furnace with tension stand, molten metal quench, and strip cooler. Ebner will also supply a leveling furnace, tempering furnace with jet cooler, and the complete control center, including S7 control system with visualization system. Metallurgica Pessina will supply the strip handling section.
The facility is scheduled to start production in May 2006.
Located to the northwest of Milan, Italy, family-owned SpA Metallurgica Luigi Pessina Acciai has been supplying hardened steel strip to the steel industry for more than 70 years.
