Electrified Thermal Marks Milestone With Headquarters Launch, E-Brick Facility and Executive Appointment

The company said the new E-Brick facility will support over 500 MWh of Joule Hive™ deployments annually and meet the growing demand for its Joule Hive thermal battery. HarbisonWalker International (HWI), a member of Calderys, will supply key raw materials through its recent partnership with Electrified Thermal and establish a U.S.-based supply chain for E-Bricks.

E-Bricks are 100% oxide-based, electrically conducive firebricks which bypass degradation issues and deliver temperatures up to 1,800°C and have a lifespan of 20–30 years. They serve industries including cement, steel, chemicals and glass, the company said.

"Combined with Tom Holmes' proven expertise in scaling advanced manufacturing operations, we're positioned to deliver on our commitment to provide cost-competitive, zero-carbon heat to industries worldwide,” said Joey Kabel, chief technology officer and cofounder of Electrified Thermal Solutions.

Holmes previously served as vice president of engineering at 6K Inc., leading commercialization of UniMelt plasma reactor technology. Before that, he worked at Siemens Healthineers, Nuvera Fuel Cells, Saint Gobain and Corning, leading design, validation and manufacturing of various products. He has worked on medical devices, fuel cell systems and high-performance ceramics from conception to bringing them to commercial scale.

"My focus will be on establishing robust manufacturing processes that can scale rapidly to meet growing demand while maintaining the reliability and performance that industrial customers demand,” said Holmes.

In his new role, Holmes will oversee the company’s manufacturing strategy and operations as they work toward the target of 2 GW of thermal power capacity by 2030, the company said.
