ExxonMobil Partners With Nucor Steel Louisiana to Expand CCS Operations

The companies said the project will capture, transport and store up to 800,000 metric tons of CO2 annually. This marks the third CCS startup for a third-party customer and the second in 2026 that ExxonMobil has worked on.

The Rose carbon storage project was the first Class VI storage site in the company’s system along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The Texas Railroad Commission approved a permit for three Class VI injection wells in Jefferson County, Texas, USA, in July 2025. This offers up to 5 million metric tons of CO2 storage per year for 13 years.
