EZDK Reports Productivity Increase Using Danieli DANCUT Blades
04/08/2026 - EZDK, an Egyptian long products steelmaker, completed a performance test of the Danieli shear blades the company installed at Shear #7 of the wire rod mill, citing a productivity increase.
The companies said the test took place between July and August 2024. Two sets of Danieli blades using DANCUT510 tool steel were used on shears 7/1 and 7/2 under full production conditions. EZDK’s evaluation said each blade reached 45,000 metric tons, with limited wear of only about 3–4 mm, before needing regrinding. The potential productivity is therefore 135,000 to 225,000 metric tons per set.
EZDK said their previous blades only had an average lifetime of about 88,000 metric tons. Therefore, the Danieli DANCUT blades had a lifetime increase of about 50–150% along with a competitive purchase price.
