Gerdau Acquires Brazilian Mill
12/02/2019 - Gerdau S.A. has further expanded its reach in Brazil with the purchase a majority stake in Siderurgica Latino Americana S.A. (SILAT), the steelmaker announced last week.
In a statement, Gerdau said it is acquiring 96% of SILAT for US$110.8 million. SILAT, located near Fortaleza, Brazil, has a rolling capacity of 600,000 metric tons annually.
“The acquisition is part of Gerdau’s strategy to improve service to its clients in the Brazilian market,” Gerdau said in a statement.
