German Government OK’s thyssenkrupp to Delay DRI Hydrogen Transition
11/04/2026 - thyssenkrupp Steel has received clearance from the German government to delay its transition to hydrogen at its direct reduced iron (DRI) steel plant in Duisburg, gasworld reported.
The clearance follows talks with the German government regarding thyssenkrupp’s concerns about the project’s funding and the availability of hydrogen as it looks to transition from coal-based steelmaking. Gasworld said the company has since confirmed it received new funding which will allow it to proceed with construction.
