GMH Gruppe Inaugurates New Rolling Mill From Kocks

The new rolling mill includes two three-roll blocks, the RSB 370++ and RSB 445++. The RSB 370++ has been in operation since 2001 and was modernized in 2012 for load application. The RSB 445++ was built from scratch to enable faster production cycles and can be moved between the two rolling lines within minutes.

The companies said with the upgrade, both Kocks blocks can be combined, allowing for the production of specialty steels with diameters from under 35 mm to over 100 mm covering a size range from 20 to 130 mm.

“Our new rolling mill gives customers exactly what they require: flexibility, precision and reliability,” said Marc-Oliver Arnold, plant director of Georgsmarienhütte GmbH.

The company said the €26 million expansion is part of its modernization strategy which will allow it to offer tailor-made steel solutions for industries including automotive and e-mobility, energy, construction and mechanical engineering.

“We can now respond faster to changing market needs, produce a broader range of sizes and grades, and ensure consistent top quality with minimal downtime,” Arnold continued.
