08/31/2026 - Danieli announced it has been selected by GravitHy to supply an ENERGIRON Zero reformer direct reduction plant to produce green steel in Fos-sur-Mer, France.
The companies said the new plant will produce an estimated 2 million metric tons annually of hot briquetted iron with 96% metallization and a carbon content of 1%. It will produce low-carbon hydrogen on-site for use as fuel for the ENERGIRON process and feature electric process gas heating.
ENERGIRON’s direct reduced iron technology was developed by both Danieli and Tenova.
The plant is expected to begin operation by the end of 2030, the companies said.
