“Every certified product demonstrates measurable progress, backed by credible data and transparent standards that empower policymakers, buyers and investors to drive decarbonization,” said Adina Renee Adler, executive director of GSCC. 

GSCC said its certifications include mills from each product group including bar, beam, engineered bar, plate and sheet. A third-party verification process was used to certify new products. Each product was verified to meet the emissions intensity thresholds set by the Steel Climate Standard. Nucor Steel–Sedalia LLC has the lowest emissions intensity of any GSCC-certified product. 

“By achieving GSCC product certification for 12 of our steel mills, more than any other steelmaker in the industry, we are continuing to provide our customers with transparent, independently verified data and the confidence that they are choosing American-made steel with the lowest embodied carbon,” said Leon Topalian, president and chief executive officer of Nucor Corp.

GSCC said this is the third member company to receive its product level certification; there are now 39 certified GSCC products.
