H2 Green Steel, Porsche Sign Supply Agreement
10/31/2023 - Steel startup H2 Green Steel has signed an agreement with Porsche AG to supply the automaker with CO2-reduced steel.
According to H2 Green Steel, the agreement marks the second contract between H2 Green Steel and a Volkswagen Group company, with Scania signing the first earlier this year.
Porsche will annually use up to 35,000 metric tons of the low-emission steel in production vehicles.
“Few brands are as iconic as Porsche. It stands for quality and a premium product. It’s also a company that is working actively toward a sustainable future, with clear expectations on how the supply chain contributes to that,” said H2 Green Steel chief executive officer Henrik Henriksson.
“Having Porsche place an order for near zero-emission steel is a real boost both for us as a company, but also the transformation of the steel industry, which has very much been driven by the demand from the automotive industry.”
