Hertwich Engineering to Provide Billet Production Plant for Hammerer Aluminum
03/10/2009 - Hammerer Aluminum Industries places equipment orders with Hertwich Engineering, a company of the SMS group, for their new billet production facility in Romania.
Hammerer Aluminum Industries GmbH, Austria, has placed equipment orders with Hertwich Engineering, Austria, a company of the SMS group, Germany, for their new billet production facility in Romania.
Hertwich Engineering’s scope of supply comprises two 60-tonne melting furnaces with the associated charging machine and flue-gas filter, as well as two 45-tonne casting furnaces, and a VDC casting machine. Hertwich
Engineering will also provide a continuous homogenizing and sawing plant combined with an ultrasonic inspection station.
The melting furnaces will be equipped with regenerative burners and liquid-metal pumps maximize energy efficiencies and minimize metal loss. The new facility will have an annual billet production of 75,000 tonnes.
Commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.
