Hertwich to Supply Homogenizing Plant to Asas Aluminyum Sanayi ve Ticaret

The Turkish manufacturer Asas Aluminyum Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. has ordered a continuous homogenizing plant from Hertwich Engineering, Austria.

The new electrically heated continuous furnace will consume only 210 kWh per tonne of aluminum — significantly less than conventional gas furnaces — thus helping to ensure lower operating costs.
According to Hertwich, Asas Aluminyum Sanayi ve Ticaret also will benefit from low maintenance costs and short downtimes, ensuring high productivity for the extrusion presses.

Hertwich Engineering’s scope of supply includes a helical ultrasonic inspection station, homogenizing facility, cooling system and turbo cooler as well as a sawing and packing station. The plant’s annual design production is 80,000 tonnes.

Commissioning is scheduled for early 2012.
