Hyundai Steel Reports Successful Trial of Low-CO2, High-Strength Steel
09/16/2022 - South Korea’s Hyundai Steel Co. said it has successfully produced 1-gigapascal steel sheet using an electric arc furnace (EAF).
In a statement, the company said the trial took advantage of the company’s EAF technology and know-how for making special steel and ultrahigh tensile strength products. It also said the production process cuts carbon emissions by more than 30%, since it uses direct reduced iron and scrap.
