Idled U. S. Steel Quench-and-Temper Mill to be Permanently Shut
03/15/2017 - United States Steel Corp. will permanently close an idled quench-and-temper mill at its Lorain, Ohio, tubular plant, according to reports.
According to The (Lorain, Ohio) Morning Journal, the No. 6 quench and temper mill will be permanently shuttered by 8 June. It has sat idled for about two years.
“This proposed action is a strategic decision for the company after considering a number of factors, including challenging market conditions for tubular products and unfairly traded imports,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement, according to the newspaper.
