Ilafa is Now Alacero

ILAFA has changed its name and from now on is Latin American Steel Association (Alacero).
 
According to the Association, the brand opens a new stage in the rich history of the region’s steel production, as well as the Association itself. The new brand was developed in response to several motivations and objectives:
 
·         Consolidation of member groups into the representative association of the steel value chain, promoting integration of the different links that comprise it.
 
·         Alignment of the Association toward the objective of repositioning the steel industry in areas such as ongoing innovation, excellence of human resources, and the contribution to sustainable development.
 
·         Strengthening of ties between partners, in order to deal with an overall vision about the common challenges that all must face.
 
·         Clear and efficient communication of the industry’s distinctive attributes.
 
Behind this renewed identity is an extensive network of small, medium and large steel producers and metallurgical industries that are part of the driving force for development in Latin America.
 
Alacero was created to integrate the steel value chain and reflects the attributes of innovation and sustainability that distinguish the industry. Alacero will also help to strengthen the values and attributes that the industry has developed in order to achieve progress, technological advances, respect of the environment, the culture of effort and cooperation, and the systematic search for excellence. As a result, Alacero will also provide the means to communicate in a clear and uniform manner the strengths of the industry.
 
Alacero represents the same values held by the region’s steel producers over decades of production, but adapts them to the present day — enhanced and upgraded in tune with the current needs and requirements of society as well as an increasingly competitive, complex and demanding market.
 
Alacero (Asociación Latinoamericana del Acero) is an association integrated by 51 companies coming from the entire value chain of steel, with an annual production around 70 million tonnes representing 95% of Latin American steel production. Alacero is promoting the values of regional integration, technological innovation, excellence in human resources, corporate responsibility and social and environmental sustainability.
