Inductotherm Celebrates Successful Commissioning of Steel Melting System
08/14/2025 - Global induction heating and melting technology company Inductotherm Group announced it has successfully commissioned its 14 MW insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT)-based VIP-I® system at a leading steel mill.
Inductotherm said the VIP-I system combines decades of expertise with the latest advancements in IGBT technology to produce a solution that meets modern steel production demands. It is estimated to be the largest IGBT-based steel melting system installed.
Advantages of the system include energy efficiency for reduced operational costs; modular design for an optimized layout tailored to the facility and enhanced system performance; and the ability to scale operations over time without sacrificing efficiency or increasing long-term costs.
“We remain focused on innovation and customer success, and we look forward to continued collaboration with metal producers and other industries to support long-term progress and sustainable growth,” Inductotherm said in a press release.
