INTECO Announces Start of New Mini-Mill
07/22/2024 - Taiwanese specialty alloys maker Gloria Materials Technology Corp. has run the first heat in a new mini-mill supplied by INTECO.
The facility includes a 60-ton EAF; a secondary metallurgical complex equipped with a ladle furnace, a vacuum degasser/vacuum oxygen degasser (VD/VOD) and argon oxygen decarburization (AOD); and expanded casting facilities.
“Notably, the casting area features conventional ingot production with a teeming car and a complete advanced teeming system. Additionally, the complex boasts the INTECO segment caster, which is capable of producing ingots with diameters of up to 1200 mm,” INTECO said in a statement.
The start-up of the entire steel mill and its gradual ramp-up to full capacity will take place through this year, INTECO said.
