JFE Steel: Aluminum Gigacasting Is ‘A Big Problem’
07/12/2023 - A JFE Steel Corp. executive says a Tesla-pioneered technology could impact demand for its automotive steel, reports the Reuters news service.
According to Reuters, JFE president Koji Kakigi said gigacasting – the use of large high-pressure aluminum die casting machines to make large cast parts – is “a very big problem.”
The comment followed news that Toyota would adopt the technology as part of an effort to lower the cost of electric vehicles.
