JFE Steel Pilot Plant Achieves Hydrogen DRI Production
08/06/2026 - JFE Steel produced its first hydrogen direct reduced iron (DRI) at its pilot plant in Chiba, Japan, funded by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), reported gasworld.
The pilot plant produced about one metric ton of DRI at about 15 kg hourly in June with green hydrogen using a 1.5 MW Yamanashi Hydrogen electrolyzer, gasworld reported. It came from Yamanashi Prefecture.
