Jingye Rejects UK Government’s Offer to Take Control of British Steel
03/09/2026 - Jingye has rejected an offer of between £50 million to £100 million from the U.K. government aiming to take control of British Steel, reported the Times.
“We are continuing discussions with Jingye to agree on a pragmatic and realistic solution to secure the long-term future of the site. Discussions are ongoing and no conclusion or decision has yet been reached,” said a U.K. government spokesperson.
Jingye had previously asked for £1 billion to give up its stake in British Steel, the Times reported.
