JSW Steel Reports Highest Ever Quarterly Crude Steel Production for Q4 FY 2010-11

JSW Steel Limited reported its highest-ever quarterly crude steel production of 1.72 million tonnes in the fourth quarter of FY 2010-11, and its highest-ever quarterly production of 1.32 million tonnes of flat rolled products.
 
The company’s 1.72 million tonnes of crude steel in the fourth quarter represents an 8% increase over the year-ago fourth quarter. The 1.32 million tonnes on flat rolled steel represents a 36 % increase over the year-ago fourth quarter, while 0.28 million tones of long rolled products represents a 13% decrease from the year-ago fourth quarter.
 
During the fourth quarter the company commenced operation of its Sinter Plant-3, Converter-4, Caster-3 and heating of the balance (two blocks out of four blocks) of Coke Oven-4 as a part of its 3.2 million tonnes/year expansion project at Vijayanagar Works. Blast Furnace-4 is in the final stage of completion and testing.
 
For FY 2010-11, the company’s crude steel production was 6.51 million tonnes, showing a growth of 9% over FY 2009-10. For the year, the company also produced 4.94 million tonnes of flat rolled products, a 33% increase vs. FY 2009-10, and 1.13 million tonnes of long products, an 18% increase over the same period.
