JSW Steel Starts Slag Recycling Plant
06/13/2022 - JSW Steel’s Vijayanagar Works has inaugurated a slag-based sand-making plant capable of producing 300,000 metric tons annually, reports The Hindu newspaper in India.
“The research and development team of JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works has developed this sustainable process for converting steelmaking slag into sand (fine aggregate to replace river sand) for its extensive usage in civil construction. This new steel slag sand also offers an eco-friendly alternative to river sand. This patented process circuit treats crushed slag through a vertical shaft impactor and a classifier after metallic separation,” JSW said in a statement, according to the paper.
