JSW Steel USA Commences Phase II Upgrade of Texas Plate Mill
11/03/2021 - JSW Steel Ltd. announced on Monday its U.S. subsidiary has begun a phase II upgrade of its plate mill in Baytown, Texas, USA, as part of a US$260 million investment to enhance operations at the facility.
According to the Business Standard, the project will comprise the addition of a 4-high finishing mill, pre-leveler, accelerated cooling system/direct quench, cooling beds and new roll shop.
“These upgrades will help us to continue in delivering significant quality benefits to customers who expect high-quality hot-rolled coils, plate and pipe products,” Mark Bush, chief executive of JSW Steel USA, said.
Bush said that the project, once completed, will put JSW Steel USA in a position to enter new markets, the Business Standard reported.
The project is expected to be completed by 2023.
