LOI Thermprocess to Supply HPH Bell-Type Annealing Plant for NLMK
09/23/2011 - NLMK has awarded a contract to LOI Thermprocess for the supply of a new HPH (High Performance Hydrogen) bell-type annealing plant.
NLMK, Russia, has awarded a contract to LOI Thermprocess for the supply of a new HPH® (High Performance Hydrogen) bell-type annealing plant.
The new annealing plant, which will have a total annual capacity of 480,000 tonnes, will replace 40 outmoded, inefficient HNx bell-type furnaces. NLMK is investing in the modernization with a view to significantly increasing production and improving material quality.
LOI Thermprocess will supply 23 annealing bases, 12 gas-fired heating hoods and 10 cooling hoods under the contract, including all the necessary ancillary facilities for the company's Lipetsk plant. LOI Thermprocess will also supply the complete control system for the plant, which will feature a Siemens S7-300 PLC and the advanced ProView® system. The control system will control all 23 bases and optimize the throughput of each individual base as well as the entire plant.
NLMK will use the new HPH bell-type annealing furnaces to anneal cold-rolled coils of low-carbon and low-alloy thin sheet up to a width of 1850 mm and a maximum thickness of 2.6 mm. Each base will have a maximum stack height of 5600 mm and a maximum stack weight of 150 tonnes.
The annealing plant modernization is to be implemented in two stages, with the first stage due for completion in the first quarter of 2013 and the second in the third quarter of 2013.
