Marcegaglia Turns to Fives For Modernizing APL
07/10/2026 - Fives announced it has been selected to modernize Marcegaglia’s annealing and pickling line (APL) at the Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plant in Italy.
Fives said it will supply Virtuo™ L, a digital solution which automatically optimizes thermal process control and improves temperature transitions while reducing fuel consumption. By collecting data, Marcegaglia can make performance improvements.
Marcegaglia previously had the SmartLine™ automatic control system installed at its Ravenna carbon steel plant and Eyeron® on the pickling line, cold rolling mills and galvanizing lines.
The companies said they expect the upgrades to be completed by the end of 2026.
