Mazzella Announces Leadership, Structural Changes to Executive Team
09/02/2026 - Mazzella announced it has appointed two new executive vice presidents, Rick Smith and Mark Erny, and moved Dan Carmichael to a new position.
Smith will serve as executive vice president of service; Erny will serve as executive vice president of cranes; and Carmichael is being moved to executive vice president of sales and marketing.
“Rick, Mark, and Dan each bring something exceptional to this leadership team, and together they reflect exactly the direction we’re taking this company,” said Matt Mazzella, president and chief executive officer of Mazzella.
Smith is a U.S. Navy veteran with leadership experience across the crane service and industrial aftermarket industries. He will focus on systemizing the company’s service operation and establishing standard operating procedures, defining measurable key performance indicators and offering more consistent performance.
Erny has experience with overhead cranes, from process equipment, workstation cranes and tooling centers. In addition to leading the crane manufacturing and fabrication facilities, he will give oversight of the company’s below-the-hook line.
Carmichael has over 25 years of experience in overhead lifting and rigging experience. He has served roles within the sales, operations and service sectors across the industry. In his expanded role, he will lead the company’s commercial operations to drive revenue growth, expand market share, strengthen vendor partnerships and ensure Mazzella’s teams are respected in the markets they serve.
“Everything we do comes back to the customer. From lifting centers and sales to service and cranes, our goal is that every customer gets the right solution, backed by the right expertise, from one unified team. Our leadership team is structured around that, and I’m confident that as we move forward together, our customers will see and feel the difference,” Mazzella continued.
