Mechel Announces New CEO for Mining Management Subsidiary

Mechel OAO announced the appointment of Boris Nikishichev as the new Chief Executive Officer at its Mechel Mining Management Company subsidiary.
 
Nikishichev (63) has worked as Mechel OAO’s Vice President for Mining since July 22. In his new position, he also will continue to work as CEO of Mechel Engineering OOO, the company that provides Mechel’s mining assets activity audit and develops new investment projects in support of the mining segment’s growth.
 
Appointed CEO of Mechel Engineering OOO in December 2008, Nikishichev previously served as Director for Mining (February 2007 to January 20090; Senior Vice President for Mining (February 2005 to 2007); and Deputy General Director of Raspadskaya Coal Company (2004 to February 2005). From 1998 to 2004, Nikishichev held the position of First Vice President in Sokolovskaya Holding Company.
 
From 1999 to 2004, Nikishichev served as First Vice President of the Mining Industrialists of Russia, a noncommercial partnership. From 1993 to 1999, he was Deputy General Director for Long-Term Development and Capital Construction, Vice President/Director for Restructuring of Coal Production in Russian Coal Co. From 1991 to 1993, he served as First Deputy President of the Management Board of Russia’s Coal Corp. From 1970 to 1990, Nikishichev held various executive positions at YuzhKuzbassUgol United Coal Mining Co.
 
Nikishichev graduated from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute with a degree in mining engineering, and also holds a doctorate in technical science from the Moscow State Mining University.
