01/30/2018 - Iron ore investor Tom Clarke, who is attempting to revive the stalled Essar Steel Minnesota taconite project, tells the Duluth (Minn.) News Tribune newspaper that he has preliminary off-take agreements with Chinese steelmakers.
According to the newspaper, those agreements cover roughly 3.5 million tons worth of taconite pellets, about half of the 7 million tons it plans to produce. The remaining half will be fed into an on-site direct reduction plant.
