Metso to Supply Process Equipment for Iron Ore Concentrator Plant
06/17/2025 - Metso Corp. announced it has signed an agreement with Jinnan Iron & Steel Group to supply key process equipment for their greenfield iron ore concentrator plant which will be constructed in Sohar, Oman.
Metso said it will supply several Vertimill® VTM-4500 mills and ball mills with metallic mill liners and a total installed power of about 25 MW. It will also deliver five high-rate thickeners with ReactorwellTM feed technology, six Larox® FFP3512 filters for concentrate dewatering and a large slurry pump package including Metso MD series discharge pumps.
“This project marks Jinnan's first venture in Oman, a country rich in a variety of mineral resources and with a strategic vision to develop its mining sector as part of its economic diversification efforts,” said Piia Karhu, president of minerals at Metso.
The company said the plant aims to produce about 12.6 million metric tons of high-grade iron ore concentrate annually. They estimate operations will begin in 2027.
