Midrex: Global DRI Output Increased in 2022
09/14/2023 - Global direct reduced iron (DRI) production rose 6.9% last year, growing to a record 127.4 million metric tons, according to Midrex Technologies’ annual tally.
Midrex said production has grown 75% over the last six years, with its plants responsible for much of that output.
“MIDREX plants produced 73.55 million metric tons of DRI in 2022, which is 3.8% more than the 70.85 million metric tons produced in 2021. MIDREX Technology continued to account for approximately 80% of worldwide production of DRI by shaft furnaces in 2022,” it said.
