Mukand Sumi Special Steel Selects Danieli for New Blooming Mill
09/08/2025 - Danieli announced it has received an order from Mukand Sumi Special Steel (MSSSL) for a new blooming mill to be installed at its Hospet plant in Karnataka, India.
The company said the new mill will have a capacity of about 300,000 metric tons annually with the ability to roll blooms up to 380 mm by 420 mm. The rolled stock will be 160- to 180-mm square billets and 100- to 200-mm-diameter finished round products. They will mostly be in alloy- and microalloy steels, ball bearing and file steels, spring steels, and valve steels.
MSSSL said the investment will allow it to expand production capacity and optimize its product mix across sectors. This includes the automotive, engineering, bearings, oil and gas, energy, and infrastructure sectors. They will also improve yield and surface quality.
The scope of supply includes mechanical equipment, process control and electrics, MV motors, advisory and commissioning services, and on-site training. A disk saw to cut rolled billets and bars will also be supplied.
Danieli said most of the equipment will be made at Danieli India quality workshops in Andhra Pradesh.
The blooming mill will be operational by the end of 2026, the companies said.
