05/09/2023 - Cleveland-Cliffs has announced that some 2,100 hourly employees represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 1943 at its Middletown Works have ratified a new four-year labor agreement.
The new agreement will take effect on 15 May 2023.
“The agreement just ratified by our union-represented employees is fair, equitable, and beneficial for our employees and for the company,” said Lourenco Goncalves, Cleveland-Cliffs’ chairman, president and chief executive.
“Middletown Works is a very important producer of automotive-grade steels ... We thank all the members of the IAM and Cleveland-Cliffs negotiating teams for their dedication to reach this agreement.”
The union said the contract includes increases to base wages, retirement contributions, and sick and accident pay, among other things.
