Nippon Steel Adjusts Production
04/08/2020 - Nippon Steel Corp. will bank two blast furnaces later this month and curtail coke production as it adjusts to lower demand, the company has said.
In a statement Tuesday, the company said it will idle the No. 1 furnace at the East Nippon Works’ Kashima plant by mid-month and the No. 1 blast furnace at the Kansai Works’ Wakayama area by late April.
As it idles the furnaces, the company said it also will idle some coke ovens at those facilities.
