NLMK Increases Capacity for Electrical Steels
09/14/2021 - The Russian steelmaker announced that it has commissioned a laser treatment unit for grain-oriented electrical steel, making it NLMK’s fourth such production line.
The surface laser treatment unit reduces specific magnetic losses by approximately 10%.
According to a press release from NLMK, the line has a capacity of 54,000 metric tons per year. The company is also constructing a 64,000-metric-ton-per-year plant in India that is slated to produce grain-oriented steels.
