Nucor Restarts Upgraded Coil-to-Bar Drawing Line at Norfolk

Danieli announced the recent start-up of one of the primary coil-to-bar drawing lines at Nucor’s Norfolk, Neb., cold finishing plant.
Danieli Centro Maskin (DCMK) revamped and modernized the main components of the coil-to-bar drawing line. The main draw bench unit, the vertical and horizontal straighteners and all the associated automation systems were successfully inserted into a combined drawing line originally designed by Miyazaki.
The revamped line is now capable of drawing round bars of up to 25.4-mm (1-inch) diameter, as well as equivalent-dimension hexagons and squares. Danieli’s revamp of this 8-ton line follows its previous installation of an existing 26-ton combined drawing line at the Norfolk facility.
