Nucor Retrofits Overhead Cranes with Emergency Brakes
10/05/2018 - Industrial brake manufacturer Pintsch Bubenzer recently has received several orders from Nucor Corp. for retrofit emergency brakes on electric overhead traveling cranes, the company has said.
In a statement, Pintsch Bubenzer said the orders have arisen from a number of Nucor mills, including Nucor Steel-Utah.
“We have installed Pintsch Bubenzer brakes on our hot metal cranes,” said Jeff Johnson, crane and mobile lead at Nucor Steel Utah. “This has created redundancy in case of a gear train failure. This is a very cost-efficient solution to provide more safety in our production environment that can be accomplished in a short period of time.”
