October Steel Shipments Up 5.2% from September, Up 11.5% from Prior Year
12/23/2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of October 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,287,553 tons, a 5.2% increase from the 7,879,747 tons shipped in the previous month,
This was also a 11.5% increase from the 7,430,267 tons shipped in October 2012. Shipments year-to-date in 2013 are 80,186,360 tons, a 1.1% decrease vs. 2012 shipments of 81,068,394 tons for ten months.
A comparison of October shipments to the previous month of September shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 8%, cold rolled sheet, up 7% and hot rolled sheet, up one%.
