Outokumpu Awarded for Corporate Responsibility Reporting

Outokumpu has been ranked best in the Finnish corporate responsibility reporting review for the second time. The company says its report focused on listening to stakeholders, the global economic downturn, climate change mitigation, wellbeing, and safety.

The reports of some 160 organizations were analyzed. Companies' efforts in supply chain management and human resources management as part of social responsibility were emphasized by this year’s jury, according to Outokumpu.

"Corporate responsibility reporting is still voluntary, but we believe that it contributes to improving our responsible performance as well as transparency,” said Liisa Jalanko, Vice President for Corporate Responsibility in Outokumpu Oyj. “It helps our stakeholders get a better understanding of our operations and the challenges in stainless steel business. The responsible way to operate is the basis, but it is also important to let people know about our achievements."

The review, conducted for the 14th time, was organized by the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, Finnish Business & Society, Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Ministry of the Environment, Association of Environmental Management and Finnish Institute of Authorized Public Accountants. The assessment criterion was based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 guidelines.
