Outokumpu to Supply Quality Yield Management Software for Avesta

ISRA Vision Parsytec AG has received an order for a new surface inspection system and a parsytec 5i site license from the stainless steel producer Outokumpu in Avesta, Sweden.

Outokumpu, a leading supplier of stainless steel, is expanding the inspection structure at its plant in Avesta, Sweden. As part of the expansion, a new espresso SI inspection system will be added at the annealing pickling line APL76, where it will complement the parsytec 5i quality yield management software in turning inspection data into actual quality information.

To fully exploit the inspection results, Outokumpu purchased a site license for parsytec 5i so it can equip as many inspectors and operators in the mill as possible. The stainless steel manufacturer plans to integrate the inspection data plant-wide and grant quality access via 5i from everywhere at anytime. The extended system will allow quality to be monitored at all times and coil decisions to be made at a moment’s notice.

According to Parsytec, parsytec 5i supports the inspection staff in their decisions on coil shipment, material re-assignment, and process analyses for future process improvements. In addition to quality improvement, the system also contributes to reduced production costs, optimized time efficiency, and reduced scrap production.
