Paul Wurth Secures Contracts to Outfit New Blast Furnace
11/08/2016 - EVRAZ has awarded contracts to blast furnace engineering firm Paul Wurth for equipment associated with the new blast furnace at the steelmaker’s Nizhny Tagil plant in Russia.
In a statement, Paul Wurth said it will supply a Bell Less Top charging system; the hearth refractory lining with a ceramic cup and two sets of fully hydraulic tapping machinery; vertical copper stave cooler; and a top-gas cleaning plant; and the de-dusting systems for the stockhouse and casthouse.
Designated as the No. 7 furnace, it will have a hearth diameter of 9.8 meters, an inner volume of 2,200 cubic meters, 22 tuyeres and 2 tapholes. The furnace will be capable of producing 2.5 million metric tons annually.
EVRAZ plans to commission the furnace in 2018.
