Posco Again Recognized for Sustainable Management
09/21/2009 - Posco has been selected as the sustainability leader in the steel business by the SAM-Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 2009, achieving the highest marks for Economy, Environment, and Social Performance categories.
Posco has been selected as the sustainability leader in the steel business by the SAM-Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 2009. The company achieved the highest marks for Economy, Environment, and Social Performance categories.
This marks Posco’s third nomination in three consecutive years in the Steel Business sector, as well as being selected as an outstanding global company for five years in a row.
SAM-DJSI is an international sustainability index developed by the Swiss sustainability management evaluating institution SAM, and Dow Jones. Sustainability management performances of 2500 leading companies are selected by Dow Jones and evaluated annually. Sustainability indices of companies in the top 10% are announced.
Posco received 82 points, the highest in the steel industry—almost twice the industry average of 42, the company notes. It has plans to further strengthen its sustainability management.
