Posco Announces Hot Run for Gwangyang Plate Mill
09/10/2010 - The Plate Mill of Gwangyang Works launched a hot run for the test production of all products to check quality and production on Sept. 3. Starting official production in October, the plant will produce 2 million steel plate products annually.
The Plate Mill of Gwangyang Works launched a hot run for the test production of all products to check quality and production on Sept. 3.
The mill, which successfully completed its cold run in July, confirming quality and the production process of a partial test production, launched the hot run one week after it initiated the hot test on Aug. 29.
Starting official production in October, the plant will produce 2 million steel plate products annually. The Plate Mill was completed in 25 months.
Posco says the plant will become the first to operate an automated delivery system spanning from steelmaking, rolling, and shipment.
Posco expects to achieve 8 million tonnes of production by 2011 to become the world’s largest manufacturer of plate products.
