Posco Breaks Ground for Steel Processing Center

Posco started construction on Posco-CLPC at the EU Economic Development Zone in Shenyang, China, on September 10. The company says it is laying the groundwork for securing a sales channel for automobile steel sheets in China.
Scheduled for completion by June 2010, Posco-CLPC is the company's sixteenth steel processing center in China. About 500 executives, including Posco's Senior Vice President Oh In-hwan, Shenyang Party Secretary Zeng Wei, and various clients, attended the ceremony.
Posco-CLPC will have an annual processing capacity of 170,000 tonnes of steel. It will provide custom-made steel sheets to the automotive market.
Posco says that Shenyang is at the center of China’s automotive market, with local factories of global automakers such as General Motors, BMW, and Volkswagen located there.
