08/30/2011 - Posco Chairman Joon-yang Chung encouraged employees during recent visits to USS-Posco and United Spiral Pipe in California.
Posco Chairman Joon-yang Chung recently visited USS-Posco Industries (UPI) and United Spiral Pipe (USP) in California to encourage employees.
Chairman Chung complimented the devoted efforts of employees at USS-Posco Industries, which celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year, noting that their work had contributed greatly to Posco’s entrance into the U.S. market.
While learning about current company status during a brown bag lunch meeting with company executives, Chairman Chung encouraged them to develop an improvement plan, including completion of the facility’s new Pickled-Oiled (PO) facility in the planned period. Chairman Chung also promised that Posco would continue to support USS-Posco’s new product development including Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) for automobiles.
Chairman Chung also visited the company’s cold-rolled facilities, showing great interest in the company’s “Hazard Map” safety activity tool. The tool comprises a board that is installed for each facility that shows a detailed map highlighting areas that are affected or vulnerable to particular hazards including compression, fire, slipping, and gas explosions. The tool allows workers to prepare safety measures in advance to prevent safety accidents.
