Posco Receives Award for Sustainability
10/02/2009 - Posco wins the grand prize in the sustainability sector at the 2009 Global Green Management Excellence Awards.
Posco has won the grand prize in the sustainability sector at the 2009 Global Green Management Excellence Awards. Posco had previously received a special prize for its sustainability report in 2005.
Posco, LG Chemical, Kia Motors, and Yuhan Kimberly received the grand prize in the segment. The KMA Group set up an assessment committee consisting of industry experts, scholars, consultants, and NGOs to evaluate more than 30 sustainability reports that were submitted by domestic companies this year.
Posco started publishing its sustainability report in 2004 to introduce the company’s sustainable achievements in the areas of the economy, the environment, and society.
The report for this year, which can be downloaded at Posco’s website, included media research and e-mail surveys on interested parties to gauge their satisfaction levels and to find further improvements to implement. It also reflected on major issues in its economic, environmental, and social achievement reports, abiding by the GRI report guidelines.
In addition, Posco Engineering & Construction was selected as an excellent company in the green management segment for a fifth straight year and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Posco E&C has been producing educational environment videos, developing eco-friendly building designs, and establishing strict construction management rules for the past five years.
The Global Green Management Excellence Awards, held for the eighth time, annually recognizes exemplary companies for their green management practices and supports their corporate social responsibility activities. The awards give prizes in various segments including green management, sustainable management, and green technology.
